The
club, the club officers, the boxers and the parents would all
like to thank Bob and Anita Bristow (pictured left) for their
incredible generosity.
Not
only did Bob and Anita open their home and invite the club on
an extended camping weekend, they supplied food & drink,
a swimming pool, boats and a fully stocked lake for fishing.
By
Sunday evening Bob and Anita must have been totally exhausted
as their commitment to ensuring everyone's enjoyment was tireless
- THANK YOU both so very much, we all had a fabulous weekend.
The
pool was a great source of entertainment. Luckily the weather
was kind for most of the weekend, which ensured the pool was
never empty for more than just a few hours a day.
Have
you ever seen such a clean bunch, it would be nice to think
it was due to the highest levels of personal hygiene whereas
the truth is they hardly ever got out of the pool unless food
and drink was on offer!
No-one
stood still posing for photographs for very long, as it was
back to more serious business, yep you guessed it our version
of the boat race.
There
a competitive bunch so it wasn't long before dirty tactics came
into play. Half the crew were in the water slowing down the
opposition's boat while the rest of the crew paddled with gusto
looking to take the advantage.
Simon
steers as Barry puts the proverbial "peddle to the metal"
Winning
by fair means or foul was certainly the order of the day, the
only rule was that there were no rules.
Ben
White, George and Ollie Bristow have found the opposition's
Achilles heel - wait for it!
"Goose
poo projectiles"
It's
not long before the opposition boat "The African Queen"
is heading for cover leaving open water toward the finish line.
After
a tough day at the paddle it's time for Simon to catch the supper,
ably supervised by Freddy, while the adults chill out and recoup
from the "All ages" football match - Colin your somersault
tackle is still a topic of enjoyment, you must have been sore
after that landing?
During
the late evening Dave Harris and Johnny Gray, two men engrained
in the history of the Westhill kept the party atmosphere going
reminiscing about the fun times they had whilst coaching, the
younger generation were enthralled as were the adults - many
of whom were once under their coaching wing.
