The
club officers, boxers and parents all wish to thank Bob and
Anita Bristow for hosting another wonderful summer camp.
For
the second year in succession Bob and Anita opened their home
for an extended camping weekend, and although at times the weather
tried to dampen spirits the weekend was another roaring success
due to some forward thinking on Bob's part. Bob had
the foresight to erect a marquis to ensure everybody remained
dry through the night while the pool was in place so that those
brave enough remained wet through the day.
Pools
are always a great source of entertainment, usually more so
for the younger ones, however some of the older Members on camp
refused to be left out and were only too willing to take on
their younger counterparts, with Paul Edwards taking the record
for the most continuous lengths swum underwater at the grand
old age of 46.
The
boys of course were only to quick to point out that they were
on camp to relax and weren't going to be drawn into any challenges.
Piggy
back fights and general fooling around was the priority in the
pool, with everybody getting in on the act at some point. A
near constant stream of laughter could be heard emanating from
the pool for the entire weekend.
Fishing
and lake sports also proved to be as popular as ever, with Tom
taking the prize for the biggest catch caught on camera.
Tom
had stiff competition as many of the attendees claimed to be
master fishermen and no doubt many will claim that they caught
bigger fish or that the pond shark was on the end of their line
when snatched away.
Fisherman's
tales get taller and taller, year on year it seems so we are
going with the photographic evidence we have on file ;-).
The
boats never fail to impress and were in constant use for the
entire weekend. The two Henrys found one especially useful for
a scientific project they undertook, that being to discover
the very latest "skin cleanser".
The
two lads certainly went about their task with vigour and without
doubt discovered something that had an effect on the skin, but
phew did they stink!
It
took several showers and a lot of scrubbing before they could
be released back into the public domain.
Both
have decided not to give up on their quest but think it best
to use others as their guinea pigs in future rather than themselves
- Wise move lads!
A
new guest at this years camp was "Porky Pig" who made
a huge impression, especially around meal time!
Porky
was spit roasted on an open flame during Saturday for many hours
and was demolished with delight in just a few minutes by the
group.
Absolutely
delicious!
From
all at the club, Bob and Anita, George, Ollie, Henry and Daisy
thank you so much for your kind hospitality.
