Senior
ABA Novice Area Finals, Southhampton - Nov 18th:
Sunday 18th
December was the start of a poor run of luck for Dave Warren
who was featuring in the U 64KG Class A Southern Counties
Final against Scott Durman (Golden Ring) hosted by Golden
ring in Southampton.
Dave by
his own admission boxed poorly and was devastated not to
have at least pushed Scott much harder for his points victory
he landed over Dave, as he desperately wanted to progress
further in the competition.

As it transpired
however, had he won, it wouldn't have made a difference
as a week later Dave suffered a shoulder injury that could
potentially keep him out for the rest of the season. Further
to his initial disappointment Dave will now miss the opportunity
to box in front of his friends and family on the club's
home show.
Unfortunately
Dave is not alone in his disappointment as club captain
Barry Buchanan ripped the muscles in his lower back during
sparring, an injury that will keep him out of the gym until
after christmas.

Shaun
Attrell and Dennis "Butch" Buchanan boxed on the
same bill as Golden Ring ABC had sensibly organised support
bouts to bolster the afternoon's entertainment.
Shaun, who
came prepared (see left photo) boxed against Golden Ring's
rising international star Iain Weaver over 4 X 2 minute
rounds and came very close to securing victory in his opponent's
back yard, pushing Iain to the narrowest of majority points
decisions.
Butch was
up against 20 year old southpaw Tommy Watson (Golden Ring)
again over 4 X 2 minute rounds.
Tommy
who has recently progressed to the national 1/4 final of
the novice event having beaten Royal Marine Nazaripour in
the pre 1/4 final was just a bit too slick on the day and
secured a unanimous decision over Dennis "Butch Cannon"
on this occasion.
Both Shaun
and Dennis are looking to bounce back with strong displays
on the home show.
Junior
ABA Novice Finals, Wythenshawe, Manchester- Nov 24th:
November
24th and it was off to Manchester for Dave Bishop and his
charge James "Paddy" McMahon, who came within
3 points of resting the Junior Novice class A U-63 Kg crown,
losing 11 - 8 to Carl Burcher of Everton Red Triangle ABC.
Carl will
have woken Sunday morning knowing he had dug very deep to
secure his victory and no doubt had the aches and pains
to prove it, as Paddy pushed him all the way, especially
in the 3rd round when he rallied strongly to try and bridge
the point gap.
