..........

The first action boys were involved in this season was on the Stacy ABC show in Portsmouth, where 4 of our lads made up half of the bouts.

Early season fitness was going to be a factor, however all our boys gave it their all to ensure the show was a success.

Kyle Logan was first to box against Sonny Barter of Stacy ABC. The Portsmouth lads had trained through the summer in preparation for their home show and the difference in ring fitness was very apparent in this first bout. Kyle stuck in gamely but couldn't halt Barter's progress who got stronger as the fight went on, with the referee stepping in to stop the contest in the 3rd round. Don't worry Kyle, it's a long season, you're a talented lad who will come back stronger than ever!

Next to box was Jake Towse who was up against Michael Andrews for the 3rd time in his last 4 bouts, having unanimously out pointed him on the last 2 occasions.

In front of his home crowd Andrews was fully committed to gaining revenge and was awarded a paper thin majority points win as his aggressive come forward style was preferred over cleaner punching and ring craft in a bout best described as a crowd pleasing brawl.

Third to box, Dennis Buchanan, who hadn't boxed for 11 months, left nothing to chance. From the first bell Dennis stamped his authority on his opponent James Macintosh of Basingstoke ABC. Macintosh stood up to some pin point accurate body shots and deserves every respect for his performance, digging deep to take the contest to the score cards. Dennis won by a unanimous points decision.

Last to box was Steve Garlick, who was having his first ever bout against Matt Whyton of Basingstoke ABC. I don't think there has ever been a boxing career that has got of to such an impressive start as Steve connected with a Rhino stopping right hand that brought the contest to a end in just 7 seconds.
