| Bout
1: Zac Chaima Finchley ABC WMPts Rhys Verlander Hastings
West Hill ABC
An
excellent bout to start the evening, both lads were accomplished
boxers with bags of potential. Chaima was the busier of
the two boys while Rhys was the more accurate, picking his
shots well. Ultimately it was a very close bout and both
corners were proud of the effort and performance their lad
put in. The bout was awarded to Zac by a majority points
decision. |

2: R J Singh Brompton ABC LUPts Tony Pidgeley Woking ABC
A
crowd pleasing bout between two lads from visiting clubs,
Pidgeley from Woking ABC securing a unanimous points victory
over the all action Singh of Brompton ABC. Both good lads
are no doubt set to meet many times in the future should
they stay at the same weight. |

3: Billy Stewart Islington ABC LMPts Liam Foster Hastings
West Hill ABC
Another excellent display from young Liam Foster who pressured
his opponent Billy Stewart throughout their bout. Both lads
are novice boxers and with refinement both are set to reach
high levels in the junior ranks over the years to come.
Liam secured a majority points victory and rounded off his
induction into Hastings West Hill ABC team in style with
2 wins from his first 2 bouts. |

4: A J Singh Brompton ABC LUPts Henry Bristow Hastings West
Hill ABC
Henry
just cannot stop winning at present and ground out another
superb victory when everything looked stacked against him.
His opponent A J Singh of Brompton ABC enjoyed an obvious
physical advantage and set about pressuring Henry from the
1st bell but Henry cleverly took advantage of the fact that
many of A J's punches were being thrown wide landing with
the inside of the glove (non scoring), to step through the
middle and land telling points scoring straight shots. |

5: Guarav Saroye Woking ABC WUPts Rhys Murphey North Herts
ABC
Another
bout contested between two visiting boxers which proved
to be a very tight contest, although Saroye claimed a unanimous
victory he was pushed all the way by Murphey from North
Herts ABC in a bout that provided 3 rounds of continuous
toe to toe action. |

6: Frank Smith Hailsham ABC WUPts Ray Penfold Bideford ABC
Former
Hastings West Hill ABC national champion Frank Smith, now
boxing for Hailsham ABC had a return bout with Ray Penfold
of Bideford ABC who he had beaten previously this season.
Frank put in a dominant display of accomplished boxing to
secure a unanimous points decision against his opponent
who should be commended for his continued effort throughout
the bout. |

7: Asher Wilson Islington ABC WUPts George Edwards Hastings
West Hill ABC
George
Edwards has been on quite a journey this year and the fact
that he hasn't yet secured his first victory doesn't do
testament to how far George has come. His bout with Asher
Wilson of Islington ABC was by far his biggest step forward
to date, as Wilson was a very accomplished boxer considering
his novice status. Wilson forced George to take a standing
count in the 1st round, many lads would have buckled but
George "Manned Up" and got stuck in to take Wilson
all the way and at times enjoy success with some excellent
combinations. Asher secured a unanimous points victory but
George "El Poco Mexicano" pushed him all the way
and won the admiration of his team mates for putting in
such a gutsy performance. |

8: Richie Goodfellow Whitstable ABC LMPts Richard Grigg
Bideford ABC (4 X 2 Mins rounds)
A
superb bout of boxing between two accomplished seniors over
4 x 2 minute rounds that couldn't have been better matched
or better fought had it taken place on a postage stamp.
Both lads gave it their all and ended the bout spent of
energy. After 3 tight rounds Grigg pushed home the advantage
in the 4th to secure a majority points victory. |

9: Jack Langford Bideford ABC LUPts Jake Towse Hastings
West Hill ABC
Jake took on talented Jack Langford from Bideford ABC, who
traveled 300 miles in the hope of toppling him but Jake
ensured he sent his opponent home knowing he had been well
beaten. Bideford ABC had obviously done their home work
as they insisted on 3 X 2 min rounds instead of the usual
4 X 2mins, pinning their hopes on Langford being a fast
starter. After a very close 1st round they may have been
thinking their strategy had paid off but Jake dominated
from the start of the 2nd round to the last bell scoring
accurately to both head and body, applying consistent pressure
that saw Langford back off more and more as the bout continued.
Jake was awarded a unanimous points victory, with one judge
scoring the bout 22 – 8 in his favour and was later
awarded the “Best boxer of the night” trophy
– A fitting tribute for such an excellent display
of boxing. |

Bout
10: Aaron Buff Woking ABC LUPts Kyle Logan Hastings West
Hill ABC
Kyle
and Aaron were meeting for the second time with Kyle holding
a victory over Aaron from the previous encounter. Aaron
the more experienced of the two boys was determined to overturn
that loss and put every effort into forcing Kyle onto the
back foot but Kyle was having none of it and began to dominate
his opponent as the bout unfolded and finished the bout
in style to secure a deserved unanimous points victory. |

Bout
11: Michael Norris Brompton ABC LMPts Daine Finch Hastings
West Hill ABC
Daine was entering the ring for his 6th bout but hadn't
actually boxed in over 4 years, however he soon shook of
any ring rust and got into a good rhythm. His opponent Michael
Norris of Brompton ABC was a strong determined character
who applied more than enough pressure to ensure Daine had
to be at his best behind a rapier like jab that scored continuously.
It was an excellent bout, which both lads should be proud
of, as the action was relentless all the way to the end
of the 3rd round. Daine securing a hard earned majority
points victory. |

Bout
12: Liam Webb Faversham ABC LUPts Steve Garlick Hastings
West Hill ABC
What a humdinger of a bout of boxing! Both Steve and Liam
would simply not give up and as one seemed to be yielding
ground to his opponent he would turn the tables to have
his opponent on the back foot. For the duration of the bout
the crowd were on their feet shouting their favourite onto
success. Ultimately it was Steve's accurate straight punches
that swung the decision his way, but full respect to Liam
who played his role superbly in ensuring the bout was awarded
"Best bout of the night". |

Bout
13: Dave Murphy Brighton City ABC WMPts Ben White Hastings
West Hill ABC (4 X 2 Mins rounds)
Dave and Ben were meeting for the second time this season,
with Ben holding a close points victory over Dave from their
previous meeting. Dave from Brighton City ABC was certainly
up for their return but had to play second fiddle during
the first 2 rounds as Ben boxed extremely well. The bout
was close going into the latter rounds and Murphy knew he
had to step it up. He rose to the challenge and caught Ben
with some heavy blows, however Ben in true White family
style came back strong and tried to assert himself. The
fourth and final round was where the bout was going to be
decided and both boys gave their all to secure victory with
Dave doing enough for the judges to secure a majority points
victory. |

Bout
14: Jason Townsend Hove ABC LUPts James McMahon Hastings
West Hill ABC
On paper Jason Townsend vs James MacMahon would be a closely
contested bout and one for the purists. The two lads didn't
disappoint and it was a closely contested bout however James
certainly had the advantage throughout and thoroughly deserved
his unanimous point victory over his more experienced opponent.

Bout
15: Simon Hopkins Horsham ABC WUPts Fred Phelps Hastings
West Hill ABC
Fred gave away a lot in age experience and weight to take
on bruiser and former professional boxer Simon Hopkins of
Horsham ABC but he didn't yield or flinch away from the
task in front of him. Hopkins who makes for a daunting site
as he stands in the opposing corner didn't leave anything
outside the ring as he fired every weapon he had in his
armoury at Fred, who reacted well by trying to use good
footwork to avoid the rampaging hopkins. In such a small
ring the only option was at times to stand toe to toe and
that effort finally took it's toll on Fred and he had to
endure a standing count. Un-swayed however fred came back
strong and although losing a unanimous points decision he
gained something just as rewarding, the respect and admiration
of his far more experienced opponent who called a close
on his boxing career in the ring that night, complementing
Fred on his effort skill and overall durability. |
